Job summary

Ardent Health Services in Tulsa, OK, is seeking a day shift, part-time Medical Surgical Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support patient care on a busy unit. This role involves assisting patients with daily activities, monitoring status, and collaborating with nursing staff.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, BLS within 14 days, and preferred CNA/PCT certification or nursing school enrollment; two years in acute or long-term care and phlebotomy proficiency are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Preferred CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school.
• Two years of experience in acute or long-term care.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observes patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to RN or other medical staff.
• Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
• Provides basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measures and records patients' intake and output and assists with range of motion and phlebotomy as needed.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

• Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observes patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
• Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
• Provides basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assists patients with range of motion, and draws blood.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school.
• Two (2) years of experience in acute or long-term care.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
