Job summary

Hillcrest HealthCare System in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Cardiology Specialty Patient Care Technician (PCT) for day shift, part-time coverage. You will assist patients with daily activities, monitor vitals, and support nursing staff in a fast-paced cardiovascular unit.

Responsibilities include collecting specimens, documenting observations, transporting patients, and helping with measurements of intake and output.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• CNA, PCT or paramedic certification preferred; nursing school enrollment also acceptable.
• Minimum of two years of experience in acute or long-term care is preferred.
• Phlebotomy proficiency is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, eating) under supervision.
• Observe patient progress and relay reports to RN or medical staff.
• Obtain and record vital signs and collect specimens for lab tests.
• Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measure intake and output and assist with range of motion as needed.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

• Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observes patients' progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
• Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
• Provides basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Additionally, this position measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines and assists patients with range of motion.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Requirements:

• Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience in acute or long-term care preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy preferred .
