Job summary

Hillcrest HealthCare System is seeking a Night Shift Orthopedic Unit Patient Care Technician (PCT) in Tulsa, OK. The role supports nursing staff by assisting patients with daily activities, vital signs, specimen collection, and transport.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and BLS within 14 days of hire; preferred CNA/PCT certification or enrollment in nursing school and up to two years in acute or long-term care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role.
• Two years of acute or long-term care experience is preferred.
• Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or enrollment in nursing school is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observe patients’ progress and prepare reports for RNs or other medical staff.
• Obtain/record vital signs and collect specimens for lab tests.
• Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measure/record intake and output and assist with range of motion as directed.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

• Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observes patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
• Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
• Provides basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines and assists patients with range of motion.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Two (2) years of experience in acute or long‑term care.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
• Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school.
