Job summary

Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, OK is hiring a day shift, full-time Cardiology Specialty Patient Care Technician (PCT). You will assist patients with daily activities and help the nursing staff maintain safe, efficient care in a busy cardiovascular unit.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and BLS within 14 days of hire. CNA/PCT or paramedic certification or nursing school enrollment is preferred; two years in acute or long-term care is a plus; phlebotomy skills are desirable.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
• Observe patients’ progress and report to RN or medical staff.
• Obtain and record vital signs and collect specimens for lab tests.
• Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Assist with intake/output and range of motion as directed.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

• Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observes patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
• Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
• Provides basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Additionally, this position measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines and assists patients with range of motion.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Requirements:

• Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience in acute or long-term care preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy preferred.
