Job summary

Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa, OK is seeking a night-shift, full-time Cardiac Stepdown Patient Care Technician (PCT). This role supports patient care through vital signs, transport, hygiene, and restorative tasks, under RN supervision.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and BLS certification within 14 days of hire. Preferred candidates have 2 years of acute or long-term care experience and CNA/PCT or paramedic certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Two years of experience in acute or long-term care is preferred.
• Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school is preferred.
• Phlebotomy proficiency is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Performs CNA duties as well as clerical tasks under RN and unit manager guidance.
• Assists with vital signs, patient transport, meal delivery, hygiene, and inquiries within scope of practice.
• Receives patients at the desk, escorts to rooms, and assists with discharge transport and chart retrieval.
• Acts as unit receptionist, assigns rooms, alerts staff to arrivals, and helps stock supplies and keep nursing stations organized.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

• The Cross Trained Assistant performs CNA duties as well as clerical duties under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) and the unit manager.
• Assists with patient care tasks such as obtaining vital signs, assists in transporting patients, pass meal trays, deliver hygiene care and answers inquiries within the scope of practice.
• Assists nursing staff by receiving patients at the desk, taking the patient to appropriate room, gives initial instruction; assists in transporting discharged patients and answers inquiries within the scope of practice.
• He/she may act as the unit’s receptionist, assigns patient to room on board, alerts nursing staff to patient arrival, pulls and prepares chart; orders and monitors utilization of selected supplies: office, nutritional supplements, forms and retrieval chart back; assists with stocking supplies that are needed in the unit as well as assist in keeping the nursing stations clean and organized.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Two (2) years of experience in acute or long-term care.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
• Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school.
