Job summary

Hillcrest Healthcare System in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Day Shift, PRN Patient Care Tech (PCT) to support nursing staff with direct patient care and unit duties. The role includes taking vital signs, assisting with transfers, delivering meals, and helping with patient comfort under RN supervision.

Required is a high school diploma or GED, and BLS certification within 14 days of hire. Preferred CNA/PCT certification and 2 years in acute or long-term care; phlebotomy experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire.
• Preferred CNA/PCT certification or currently enrolled in nursing school.
• Two years of experience in acute or long-term care.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

• Perform CNA duties as well as clerical duties under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) and the unit manager.
• Assist with patient care tasks such as obtaining vital signs, assist in transporting patients, pass meal trays, deliver hygiene care and answer inquiries within the scope of practice.
• Assist nursing staff by receiving patients at the desk, taking the patient to appropriate room, gives initial instruction; assist in transporting discharged patients and answer inquiries within the scope of practice.
• May act as the unit's receptionist, assign patient to room on board, alert nursing staff to patient arrival, pull and prepare chart; order and monitor utilization of supplies and keep nursing stations stocked and organized.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

• Perform CNA duties as well as clerical duties under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) and the unit manager

• Assist with patient care tasks such as obtaining vital signs, assists in transporting patients, pass meal trays, deliver hygiene care and answers inquiries within the scope of practice

• May act as the unit's receptionist, assign patient to room on board, alert nursing staff to patient arrival, pull and prepare chart; order and monitor utilization of selected supplies: office, nutritional supplements, forms and retrieval chart back; assist with stocking supplies that are needed in the unit as well as assist in keeping the nursing stations clean and organized

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.

• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school.

• Two (2) years of experience in acute or long-term care.

• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
