Job summary

Ascension Health is seeking a Night shift Nurse Aide/Patient Care Support in Murfreesboro, TN, at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford, within the Med Surg department. This full-time role focuses on assisting with daily living activities, patient safety, and accurate documentation, supporting a respectful healing environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent or 1 year of relevant experience. BLS certification within 30 days of hire is required; Nurse Aide is preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 1 month of hire date required (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• Nurse Aide preferred.
• Education: High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable job-specific experience. Licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living to support a respectful, healing environment.
• Aid with safe movement and positioning to enhance patient safety and recovery as directed by the clinical team.
• Observe and report changes in a patient's physical, mental, or emotional condition to nursing staff.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient observations and care activities.
• Keep patient rooms orderly and ensure functionality of medical equipment to support a safe care environment.

• Support a respectful and comfortable healing environment by assisting patients with essential personal care and the activities of daily living.

• Enhance patient safety and recovery by aiding with the careful movement and positioning of individuals as directed by the clinical team.

• Act as a vital observer for the nursing staff by identifying and reporting changes in a patient's physical, mental, or emotional condition.

• Maintain the integrity of the clinical record by accurately documenting patient observations and care activities in a timely manner.

• Ensure a safe and efficient care environment by keeping patient rooms orderly and maintaining the functionality of medical equipment.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• Nurse Aide preferred.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
