Job summary

UMass Memorial Health seeks a Patient Care Tech III to join our care team in Worcester. The role supports nurses and clinicians with direct patient care, telemetry, and routine bedside tasks on day shift.

The position requires interfacing with patients, families and staff, ensuring safety, accuracy of vital signs, and adherence to hospital policies. Training, teamwork, and resilience are valued in our busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• 1 year of acute care hospital experience or EMT Paramedic experience.
• Strong English communication skills (written and spoken).
• Proficiency in medical terminology and computer use.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN regarding patient observations.
• Maintain patient safety and de-escalate situations as directed.
• Assist with activities of daily living and patient positioning.
• Take and record vital signs and measurements.
• Perform EKGs, point-of-care tests and specimen handling per standards.
• Assist in phlebotomy in locations where required.
• Support treatments and procedures under licensed staff supervision.
• Perform unit secretary duties as needed and support unit operations.
