Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking a Patient Care Technician III to support RN staff in the Emergency Department and other high-acuity units. The role includes patient care, telemetry support, and potential unit secretary duties.

A high school diploma and Basic Life Support are required, with 1 year of acute care or EMT experience preferred. The position offers day shift hours, with some weekends and holidays as part of the rotation, and may include a signing bonus eligibility

Qualifications

High school education or GED is required.
Current Basic Life Support certification.
1 year of acute care/hospital experience or EMT/Paramedic experience.
Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
Proficient computer skills and basic typing.
Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

Responsibilities

Provide clear, timely communication to the RN about patient observations and changes.
Maintain constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
Help create and maintain a safe environment and assist in de-escalation when needed.
Assist patients with activities of daily living and mobility.
Assist in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients using proper safety techniques.
Take and record vital signs, measurements, and basic tests per hospital standards.
Assist with phlebotomy, EKGs, and other point-of-care tests as required.
