Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with non-direct patient care unit coordination. The role supports RNs in caring for acutely ill patients, performs essential nursing procedures, and helps manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.

Responsibilities include vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and documentation in the EMR, while ensuring patient safety and cleanliness of the unit.

Qualifications

• 1 year in an acute or long-term care facility OR enrolled in an Associate's/Bachelor's in Nursing program.
• Basic computer skills.
• Proficient in phlebotomy and straight catheterization.
• CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities (ADLs, vitals, etc.).
• Participates in admissions, discharges and transfers.
• Performs phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen collection as needed.
• Maintains patient safety, accurate documentation, and a clean/unit-friendly environment.
