Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide direct patient care under RN supervision in a busy inpatient unit. Responsibilities include performing ADLs, vital signs, phlebotomy, and assisting with admissions, discharges, and transfers while maintaining documentation in the EMR.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• 1 year in an acute or long-term care facility or enrolled in an RN program.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Proficient in phlebotomy and straight catheterization.

Responsibilities

• Provide and document direct patient care and activities (ADLs, vitals, phlebotomy, EKG, specimen collection).
• Assist with admissions, discharges and transfers; coordinate unit activities.
• Document vitals, IO, weights, restraints and care details; report changes to nursing staff.
• Participate in quality and safety initiatives and bedside rounding to promote patient safety and satisfaction.
• Stock supplies and assist with equipment cleaning and room readiness.
