Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with non-direct patient care unit coordination. The role supports RNs in caring for acutely ill patients while maintaining medical asepsis, patient dignity, and accurate EMR documentation.

Responsibilities include vital signs, specimen collection, phlebotomy, EKG testing, mobility protocols, and ensuring a clean, safe environment.

Qualifications

• High School/GED is required.
• 1 year in an acute or long-term care facility OR enrolled in an Associate's in Nursing (halfway through program) or Bachelor's in Nursing (Junior year) program.
• Basic computer skills.
• Proficient in Phlebotomy and straight catheterization.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as activities of daily livings, vital signs, specimen collection, phlebotomy, intake and output, EKG testing, bladder scanning, urine specimen collection, IV access documentation, and mobility protocols.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives including bedside shift report and hourly rounding promoting safety and cleanliness.
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimen collection, EKG completion and all other treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activity such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning; performs other duties as assigned.
