Job summary

St. Mary's Medical Center in West Virginia is seeking a full-time Patient Care Specialist to assist in providing patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

The role includes performing 12-lead EKGs, collecting blood samples, monitoring vital signs, and supporting ADLs and nutrition. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, complete a multi-skilled technician program (EKG, phlebotomy, direct patient care), and current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Multi-skilled technician program including EKG, phlebotomy, and direct patient care preferred.
• EKG and Phlebotomy training with patient experience preferred.
• CPCT or ASPT certification preferred; valid certifications in EKG/phlebotomy/patient care required.
• BLS certification required and must be maintained.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Perform 12-lead EKG and recognize tracing abnormalities.
• Collect blood samples by venipuncture or skin puncture.
• Enter documentation accurately in medical records.
• Assist with ADLs and patient nutrition and hygiene.
• Provide basic skin care monitoring and report changes.
