Job summary

St. Mary's Medical Center in West Virginia is seeking a full-time Patient Care Specialist to assist in direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

You will perform 12-lead EKGs, collect blood via venipuncture or skin puncture, and document care in the EMR while supporting ADLs and nutrition. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, completion of a multi-skilled technician program with EKG/phlebotomy modules, and current BLS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; multi-skilled technician training preferred.
• CPCT certification or equivalent credentials preferred/required.
• Completion of EKG, phlebotomy training and direct patient care experience desired.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required and current.

Responsibilities

• Perform 12-lead EKGs and report abnormalities promptly.
• Collect blood samples by venipuncture or skin puncture.
• Enter documentation accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide nutrition support.
• Maintain patient safety and notify RN/Charge Nurse of changes in patient condition.
