Job summary

St. Mary's Medical Center in West Virginia is seeking a Full Time Patient Care Specialist to assist with patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

The role supports basic nursing tasks, monitors vital signs, and helps with activities of daily living. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, completion of a multi-skilled technician program (EKG, phlebotomy, direct patient care), and valid CPCT or BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Multi-skilled technician program including EKG, phlebotomy and direct patient care preferred.
• CPCT or equivalent certification preferred; BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing direct, safe patient care under RN supervision.
• Collect blood samples by venipuncture or skin puncture.
• Measure and record vital signs and monitor for abnormalities.
• Document thoroughly in the electronic medical record.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families and follow safety policies.
• Operate unit equipment and report maintenance concerns as needed.
