Job summary

St. Mary’s Medical Center is seeking a skilled patient care technician to assist in providing patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities include performing 12-lead EKGs, phlebotomy, vital signs, and accurate documentation to support safe patient care. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and certification in a multi-skilled technician program (EKG, phlebotomy, patient care).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a multi-skilled technician program including EKG, phlebotomy, and direct patient care; certification must be current.
• Verbal ability to communicate with patients and nursing staff; BLS required.
• Experience in clinical settings with patient care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing patient care under the supervision and guidance of a registered nurse.
• Demonstrate ability to perform 12-lead EKG correctly.
• Collect blood samples by venipuncture or skin puncture.
• Maintain equipment and report maintenance needs or faults.
• Enter patient information accurately into the computer system.
• Support direct, safe, effective patient care for diverse age groups.
