Job summary

St. Mary’s Medical Center is seeking a full-time Patient Care Specialist to assist with patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role includes performing 12-lead EKGs, phlebotomy, vital signs, ADL support, and accurate EMR documentation in a hospital setting.

Education requirements include a high school diploma or GED, with a multi-skilled technician program preferred. CPCT certification (NHA/ASPT) or equivalent certifications in EKG, phlebotomy, and patient care, plus BLS,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; multi-skilled technician program preferred.
• Experience with EKG and Phlebotomy in clinical settings preferred.
• CPCT certification (NHA or ASPT) current; or valid certifications in EKG, phlebotomy and patient care (Nurse Aide/CCMA); BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing patient care under RN supervision.
• Demonstrate ability to perform 12 lead EKG and recognize tracing abnormalities.
• Collect blood samples by venipuncture or skin puncture.
• Enter documentation accurately in EMR/database.
• Assist with ADLs and provide basic care including nutrition and hygiene.
• Monitor vital signs and intake/output, reporting abnormalities.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow safety policies.
