Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support patient care activities in Illinois. This role involves direct patient assistance, specimen handling, EKG collection, and collaboration with RNs to ensure safety and quality of care.

The ideal candidate has a CNA credential or nursing student rotation, and BLS certification, with a commitment to patient safety and learning within a clinical team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited CNA program and listed on the Illinois CNA Registry OR nursing student who completed one clinical rotation.
• BLS through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Collects, labels and transports specimens as assigned.
• Obtains 12 lead EKGs and monitors patient condition.
• Discontinues Saline Locks and indwelling urinary catheters as directed.
• Performs Point of Care Testing as appropriate.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene and nutritional needs per care plan.
