Job summary

You will verify insurance, enter data in EMR, handle appointments, reminders, and billing-related tasks while supporting optimal patient experiences. Part-time, on-site position with competitive hourly wages.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to learn practice management systems (EMR).
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong verbal and written communication with a patient-centered approach.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
• Ability to identify issues proactively and contribute to solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to maintain patient and practice confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, customers, and vendors in a friendly, professional manner; serve as the primary contact for patient interactions.
• Answer calls, respond to inquiries, and manage email or digital communications promptly.
• Schedule patient appointments while supporting provider schedule optimization and same-day fill opportunities.
• Execute appointment confirmations and reminders to reduce no-shows.
• Verify insurance eligibility and patient demographics; enter data into EMR accurately.
• Explain insurance coverage, benefits, and patient financial responsibility.
• Prepare patient charts and documentation ahead of visits.
• Collect and document charges, co-pays, and payments in EMR; monitor balances.
• Run reports to ensure charges are billed and up to date.
• Monitor patient flow and provider schedules; adjust to support efficiency.
• Communicate wait times and next steps to patients.
• Coordinate with clinical and optical teams for smooth transitions.
• Support retention through recall and reactivation outreach.
• Assist in maintaining an organized, clean front office.
• Perform other duties as needed by Practice Manager or Optometrist.
