Job summary

Brown University Health in North Dartmouth, MA seeks a Medical Assistant I / Patient Service Specialist to join the SMG physician practice. You will work with providers to prepare patients, record vitals, and maintain EMR details with care and professionalism.

Role requires strong customer service, solid communication, and EMR experience (Athena preferred). Typical schedule is M-F, 8:00am-5:00pm, with on-site responsibilities in a busy clinical setting.

Qualifications

• One to three years as a medical assistant preferred.
• Strong customer service excellence expected.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Experience with EMR strongly preferred (Athena a plus).
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers to deliver care; prepare patient for visits and take vital signs.
• Enter patient history, chief complaint, and medications into EMR accurately.
• Obtain consents and complete required forms for visit types.
• Perform in-office testing and in-room procedures as needed (EKG, vaccines).
• Register patients in EMR and verify demographics and insurance information.
• Schedule appointments and testing per directions; support pre-visit planning.
• Inform management of supply needs and assist with ordering as directed.
