Job summary

Akumin Inc. is seeking a Patient Coordinator at Zephyrhills, FL (PRN/Part-time) to support patient registration, insurance verification, and scheduling across multiple local sites. You will greet patients, collect payments, and ensure accurate documentation while upholding HIPAA compliance.

The role requires strong customer service, ability to multitask, and flexibility to work at several locations. CPR is required for Mobile Radiology/Oncology staffing, and travel to nearby sites may be needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
• CPR Certification required for Mobile Radiology and Oncology; CPR Certification is a plus for Fixed Radiology.
• As applicable, valid state driver’s license required.
• Ability to work at several locations; local travel may be required.
• COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
• Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Conducts patient registration in various systems.
• Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• Collects monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization.
• Provides preliminary and post-procedure instructions to patients.
• Transports patients to/from the exam room and assists in transfers.
• Schedules patient appointments and maintains patient records.
• Ensures accuracy of patient visits in electronic systems and written documents.
• Assists clinical staff with documentation and image delivery.
