Job summary

Akumin is seeking a Patient Coordinator for the Northeast facility. This PRN time position involves welcoming patients, registering them, and guiding them through the visit process. You will coordinate insurance verification, authorizations, and scheduling while assisting with front-desk duties and patient education.

The role requires strong service orientation, attention to detail, and the ability to work across multiple sites, with a focus on HIPAA compliance and patient experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Experience in healthcare or radiology a plus.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Perform patient registration in various systems.
• Answer all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
• May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures.
• May transport patient to/from the exam room and assist in transfer on/off the exam table.
• Provide preliminary and post-procedure instructions to patients.
• Schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification and/or authorization.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient visits in electronic systems.
• Assist clinical staff with documentation and image delivery.
