Job summary

Akumin is a leading provider of outpatient radiology and oncology services, hiring a Patient Coordinator for its mobile unit on a PRN basis. You will greet patients, register them, verify insurance, and assist in procedures while maintaining HIPAA-compliant documentation.

The role requires flexibility to work at multiple locations and a valid driver’s license, with CPR certification preferred before hire. Spanish language skills are a plus and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR certification required prior to hire.
• Valid state driver's license required.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
• Ability to work at several locations.

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Performs patient registration in various systems.
• Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• May be responsible for verifying insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
• May transport patient to/from the exam room.
• May assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
• May provide the patient with preliminary and post-procedure instructions.
• Will maintain a clean and organized work area.
• May schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification and/or authorization.
• May prepare medical records for physicians, patients and customers.
• Ensures accurate documentation of patient visits in various electronic systems.
