Job summary

Illinois CancerCare in Peru, IL is seeking a Scheduler to join our team. This 32-hour-per-week role supports care coordination by scheduling follow-up appointments, tests, and treatments, while assisting billing and patient communication.

You will work with providers, patients, and clinical teams to ensure accurate, timely scheduling aligned with each patient’s care plan in a fast-paced environment. Travel to satellite clinics may be required; HIPAA and Illinois CancerCare policies guide daily

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• 3+ years of experience in a healthcare setting.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
• Familiarity with EMR systems and medical terminology.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Schedule follow-up visits, labs, imaging, and treatments for patients.
• Coordinate with outside facilities as needed.
• Communicate appointment details and test instructions clearly to patients.
• Collect co-pays, verify insurance codes, and enter billing data into the EMR.
• Manage provider schedules and update consult, vacation, and on-call calendars.
• Reschedule missed or changed appointments and confirm updates with patients.
• Monitor outstanding orders and referrals and follow up as needed.
• Travel to satellite clinics as required.
