Job summary

Rocky Hill Surgery Center is seeking an experienced Patient Service Representative to join our team. This full-time role emphasizes excellent patient service, accurate insurance verification, and efficient front-office operations in our ophthalmology center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a healthcare front office, medical receptionist, or customer service role preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance verification, billing, and medical terminology preferred.
• Proficiency with practice management systems, EMR, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Greeting and register patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
• Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and authorizations prior to procedures.
• Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances at the time of service; provide receipts and maintain accurate records.
• Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently, ensuring smooth patient flow.
• Answer phones, direct calls, and respond to inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
• Schedule procedures and appointments in accordance with provider and facility guidelines.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Assist with the preparation and scanning of medical records, charts, and required documentation.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
• Perform general clerical duties including filing, copying, faxing, and mail distribution.
• Support business office and clinical staff with administrative tasks as needed.

Our busy ophthalmology surgery center provides outpatient surgical procedures to Rocky Hill, CT and the surrounding communities. We are looking for a Patient Care Assistant who is a team player, detail oriented, and committed to delivering excellent care to our patients.

Position Title: Patient Care Representative

Classification: Non-exempt

Reports To: Business Office Manager

Status: Full Time - 40 Hours per week

Salary Range: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Position Summary:

Patient Service Representative (PSR) serves as the first point of contact for patients, families,

and visitors of the Center. This role is responsible for providing excellent customer service,

managing patient check-in/check-out, verifying insurance and demographics, collecting

payments, and ensuring accuracy in the scheduling and registration process. The position

supports the business office and clinical teams by maintaining an organized, efficient, and

welcoming environment.
