Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant who supports patient care with a compassionate, confidential approach. You will interview patients, record vitals, collect specimens as needed, and support exam rooms under provider direction.

Collaborate with clinical and office staff to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate documentation in CIS/Centricity. Opportunities exist for growth to higher MA levels within the practice.

Qualifications

• Graduate or MA II competency as evaluated by hiring manager.
• Minimum 3 years of current relevant medical assistant experience.
• Preferred national certifications listed above.

Responsibilities

• Patient and Room Preparation - prepare room and patient for exam; ensure equipment and patient education materials; review schedules and improve patient access and flow.
• Patient Intake and History - collect and confirm patient data; enter information in CIS/Centricity; relay information to provider and nurse.
• Clinical Orders - implement orders, refill prescriptions per protocol, obtain prior authorizations as needed.
• Assisting Provider - chaperone and assist procedures; set up/clean exam room; anticipate provider needs.
• Procedures - perform procedures including EKG, screening, point of care testing, immunizations per policy.
• Documentation - complete documentation accurately and timely; maintain patient/provider information.
• Patient Discharge - schedule follow-ups; provide education materials; prepare room for next patient.
• Communication/Leadership - coordinate with care team and escalate red flags as needed.
• Completes referrals and prior authorizations; schedule surgeries as needed.
