Job summary

Mountain Area Health Education Center is seeking a Customer Care Associate to assist patients with check-in/check-out and appointment scheduling, while delivering an excellent patient experience at MAHEC in Asheville, NC.

The role emphasizes accurate data entry, insurance verification, payments processing, and coordination with financial advocates as needed. Strong communication and teamwork will be essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years of relevant experience or comparable education/experience.
• Knowledge of medical office workflows and front desk responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Check-in patients via phone or live.
• Update patients' demographic and insurance information.
• Verify insurance as needed.
• Collect payments and reconcile cash drawers as assigned.
• Refer patients to financial advocates as needed.
• Prepare and provide appropriate patient paperwork.
• Respond to walk-in patient needs.
• Monitor waiting room for delays.
• Check-out patients.
• Schedule appointments.
• Provide patients with clinical summaries after visits.
• Coordinate interpreting services for patients.
• Reconcile appointments.
• Answer phones and check voicemails.
• Monitor mail, scan and fax documents.
• Monitor EHR inbox and follow-up.
• Participate in orientation of new staff.
• Participate in process improvements of workflows.
• Support divisional and organizational initiatives.
• Participate in outreach events and seasonal clinics.
