Job summary

Akumin Atlantis is hiring a Patient Coordinator for a full-time position. The role focuses on enhancing patient experience through courteous front-desk interactions, registration, and clear communication about procedures and expectations.

Key duties include greeting patients, registering in systems, handling calls, collecting payments, and verifying insurance. The role supports transportation and documentation across clinical areas to ensure smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
• CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire.
• Valid state driver’s license may be required.
• Strong customer service skills and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Performs patient registration in various systems.
• Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• May be responsible for verifying insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
• May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, including medical history.
• May transport patient to/from the exam room and assist in transfer on/off the exam table.
• May transport patient to/from the exam room and provide post-procedure instructions.
• Will ensure accuracy of patient records and schedule appointments.
• May prepare medical records for physicians, patients and customers.
• Ensures accurate documentation of patient visits in electronic systems and on written documents.
• Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
