Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree or college level business courses preferred.
• 2 years of medical billing experience and familiarity with HCFA 1500, CPT and ICD 9 codes preferred.
• Current CPR Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform front office operations per PCC II manuals.
• Greet and register patients, inform staff of patients' arrival, and direct to appropriate department or room.
• Collect and input patient information, demographics, and insurance details.
• Verify active coverage or eligibility and document payments and charges.
• Schedule appointments and document accounts; maintain continuity of care in scheduling.
• Schedule and recapture appointments and assist in ensuring no delays in patient care.
• Collect all monies due prior to visits and document receipts in the system.
• Audit visits for proper authorization/precertification and collect monies due.
• Answer and transfer calls, arrange referrals, and relay messages.
• Follow up on daily reports and coordinate prescriptions/authorizations as needed.
• Reconcile cash deposits and maintain secure handling of payments.
• Verify benefits over the phone and ensure visits are properly authorized.
