Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree or college-level business courses preferred.
• 2 years of previous experience in a medical billing practice and medical terminology (HCFA 1500, CPT and ICD 9 codes) preferred.
• Current CPR Certificate.
• Excellent Customer Service and professional communication.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and data entry with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform front office operations per the PCC II manuals (Scheduling/Billing/EMR).
• Greets and registers patients and directs them to the proper department or room.
• Collects and updates patient information and verifies insurance coverage.
• Schedule appointments and document accounts; maintain continuity of care in scheduling.
• Collects due monies prior to visits and provides receipts; reconciles collections daily.
• Verify prescriptions and authorizations to ensure no delays in patient care.
• Answer and transfer calls, arrange referrals, and relay messages.
• Follow up on daily reports to ensure necessary prescriptions and precertifications are in place.
• Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment and comply with regulations.
