Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher level degree may satisfy.
• Nursing Assistant I/II licensure by the NC DHHS.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• One year of clerical or customer service experience and three months nursing assistant experience.
• English language fluency; capable of basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures; procure equipment and supplies.
• Review patient care documentation; report significant changes to nurse/physician.
• Perform clerical tasks: organize workload, greet visitors, research information, review and revise orders, transcribe orders, maintain medical records, conduct quality audits.
• Provide clinical support: clean work area, troubleshoot equipment, change linens, check inventory, restock supplies, transport patients and specimens, assist orientation of new staff.
• Provide direct personal patient care per care plan: measure vital signs, assist with bathing/dressing/feeding, ambulation; may perform specimen collection and basic nursing tasks.
• Reinforce patient education and distribute materials as requested.
