Job summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas is seeking a Night Shift Nursing Assistant (PRN) to perform patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse on the NPH 17th Floor.

The role requires completing an approved nurse aide, medical assistant, or patient care technician program, current Heartsaver CPR within 90 days, and strong communication with patients and staff to support patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Must have completed or hold one of the listed nursing assistant or medical support courses/certifications.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program and have documentation of basic fundamentals of nursing.
• Graduate from accredited nursing program or Parkland's job-specific training may apply.
• Experience not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs specified patient care activities, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, including basic hygiene, unsterile treatments, vital signs, and ROM.
• Provides patient advocacy, maintains patient rights and confidentiality, and delivers patient-centered care.
• Monitors patient status and reports changes to nurses and health team members.
• Notates and records vitals, ambulation, feeding outcomes, etc., per nursing unit standards.
• Maintains sanitation, infection control, safety, and equipment usage; reports deficiencies.
• Escorts patients, assists with translation services when needed, and conducts quality checks.
• Identifies ways to improve work processes and suggests changes to the supervisor.
• Maintains ongoing education and professional growth through in-service sessions and reading.
• Ensures adherence to rules, regulations, and accreditation requirements.
