Job summary

Harris Health System seeks a Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) to support inpatient patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will work with the charge nurse and staff nurses to ensure patient needs are met, perform basic care tasks, and use medical terminology, communication, and computer skills with professionalism.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, relevant certifications such as CNA/MA/EMT-B, and BLS.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with technical skills/training appropriate to the specialty area.
• Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician-Basic; nursing students actively attending an accredited nursing program are exempt of certification requirement provided a satisfactory completion of first clinical/foundations course.
• Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program.
• Aggression Management certification within 90 days of hire
• EKG, and/or Phlebotomy competency validation required, as applicable to specialty area within 6 months of hire.
• Other certificates as required by unit/service/clinic.

Responsibilities

• Support patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse on inpatient units.
• Collaborate with the charge nurse and staff nurses to ensure patient care needs are met.
• Demonstrate proficiency in basic patient care activities, medical terminology, communication, and computer skills.
