Job summary

Aurora Health Care is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support registered nurses in daily patient care activities, including bathing, feeding, vital signs, and documentation within the EMR system.

The role involves assisting with rounds, admissions/discharges, specimen collection, and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Must be capable of lifting and assisting within a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification within 45 days
• Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry
• GED or High School Diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with daily patient care including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding and ambulation.
• Measure and document vital signs and intake/output in EMR.
• Perform purposeful rounding and communicate observations to RN.
• Participate in admission, transfer and discharge processes under RN supervision.
• Collect specimens and perform point-of-care testing as indicated.
• Handle errands, restock nursing area and maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas.
• Assist with patient positioning and transport following proper technique and using assistive devices.
• Support skin integrity and manage patient supplies and devices (e.g., TED hose).
• May assist with IV removal, post-mortem care, and bladder scans as directed.
• Adhere to infection prevention practices and age-appropriate patient care guidelines.
