Department: Medical Surgical & Telemetry Unit

Schedule: Full-time, Nights, 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) is a certified individual who performs direct care in the department setting. The PCA II maintains current certification in patient care and is responsible for assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing basic nursing care to all patients, and helping maintain a safe environment under the supervision of the RN, as long as the activity does not interfere with primary responsibilities like dysrhythmia monitoring.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Current Certification in Patient Care required (e.g., M.A., CNA, EMT, Paramedic, Patient Care Tech).
3. Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire; maintaining current certification preferred.
4. Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire; maintaining current certification required.
5. Six months of previous experience as a Monitor Technician preferred.
6. Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
7. Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
8. Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
9. Minimum six months of experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Facility-specific requirements (may vary):

1. Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire; maintaining current certification required per facility policy.

The estimated total compensation range for this role is $18.90 to $28.01 per hour, based on factors such as experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
