Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) is a certified individual who performs direct patient care within the department. The PCA II maintains current certification in patient care, assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care, and helps maintain a safe environment under the supervision of an RN, ensuring activities do not interfere with primary responsibilities like dysrhythmia monitoring.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Training

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Current Certification in Patient Care (e.g., M.A., CNA, EMT, Paramedic, Patient Care Tech).
3. Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate preferred; must be maintained.
4. Current BLS (AHA) certification required; must be maintained.
5. Six months' previous experience as a Monitor Technician preferred.
6. Current Phlebotomy certification preferred.
7. Current EKG certification preferred.
8. Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
9. Minimum six months' experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Facility-specific requirements:

1. Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire; must be maintained per facility policy.

The estimated total compensation range for this role is $18.90 to $28.01, depending on skills, experience, credentials, and other factors. The exact offer will be determined during the hiring process.
