Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) is a certified individual who performs direct care in the department setting. The PCA II maintains current certification in patient care and assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care, and helps maintain a safe environment under the supervision of the RN, ensuring activities do not interfere with primary responsibilities such as dysrhythmia monitoring.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Training

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Current Certification in Patient Care required (e.g., M.A., CNA, EMT, Paramedic, Patient Care Tech).
3. Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire; maintaining current preferred.
4. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire; maintaining current.
5. Six months of previous experience as Monitor Technician preferred.
6. Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire preferred.
7. Current EKG certification upon hire preferred.
8. Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
9. Minimum six months of experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements

1. Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire; maintaining current per facility requirements.

The estimated total compensation range for this role is $18.90 to $28.01, depending on experience, education, credentials, and other factors. The final offer will be determined at hire.
