Job summary

Parkland Health seeks an experienced Patient Financial Services representative to answer inquiries, correct errors, and ensure accuracy of patient financial accounts. You will update records, verify coverage, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and insurers.

The role requires solid knowledge of billing processes, medical software, and a professional demeanor. A background in hospital or physician office settings and bilingual abilities are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have 3 years of experience in a hospital or physician business office.
• Must have 2 years of customer service experience in a medical business office.
• Typing 20 wpm with a maximum of 3 errors.
• Working knowledge of billing, managed care programs, and State/Federal programs.
• Working knowledge of medical software.
• Positive demeanor with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate with patients, families, government entities, insurance companies, and Parkland staff.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge preferred.
• Bilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers calls to Patient Billing, Collections, or Health Information Management to resolve questions.
• Updates accounts with information from patients/guarantors and verifies third party coverage.
• Responds to patient correspondence and initiates corrective action as needed.
• Documents all actions in the system with clear notes for others.
• Tracks productivity and provides reports daily, weekly, or monthly as directed.
• Maintains positive relationships with agencies, patients, insurers, government entities, clinical personnel, and staff.
