Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a detail-oriented Patient Accounts professional in Wisconsin to manage billing, collections, and payment arrangements. You will review accounts, counsel patients on costs and insurance options, and coordinate with care teams to resolve disputes while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

The role requires knowledge of reimbursement practices, effective communication, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of high school.
• Two to three years customer service and/or collections experience.
• Knowledge of reimbursement practices for commercial and government payers.
• Medical terminology desired.

Responsibilities

• Follow and administer Mercyhealth financial policies and guidelines.
• Counsel patients on billing concerns, account balances, services costs/estimates and various insurance resources.
• Establish payment plans with patients and follow up on broken payment arrangements.
• Research patient accounts, process refunds and pay in full discounts.
• Communicate with physicians, patient care staff and hospital/clinic reception regarding insurance issues.
