Job summary

Baxter International Inc. is hiring a Patient Accounts Receivable Specialist in Minnesota to work with patients on balances and resolutions through self-pay, financial assistance, or other options within the Respiratory Health Division.

The role involves collections, research on receivables, generating balance letters, and managing financial assistance programs while ensuring professional communication with patients and internal teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in customer service, billing, collections, or insurance in healthcare preferred
• Experience with high-dollar DME is a plus
• Experience with medical benefits and explanations of benefits (EOBs) is preferred
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and billing systems preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform collections and research on patient accounts to determine resolution
• Generate option letters after insurance denial or balance notices and follow through to resolution
• Create and manage financial assistance applications and track outcomes
• Provide timely and professional communications with patients and families
• Process PFA documents, bankruptcy notices, and returned mail
• Create adjustments per policies and procedures and reconcile balances
• Coordinate device shipment or pickup with Customer Service
• Handle accounts referred to collection agencies with required documentation
• Arrange Self-Pay options for devices, supplies, and accessories
• Generate manual invoices/quotes and handle specialized billing (Embassy, CHOP, Mexico, Canada, Trust Fund)
• Assist with other duties and projects as assigned
