You will greet patients, verify benefits, explain ABNs, counsel on costs and payment options, log valuables, apply armbands, process orders, coordinate with departments, and support emergency procedures while maintaining compliance and strong customer service.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of admissions, customer service and/or public relations experience required.
• 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients accurately in the registration system and obtains signatures on consent and authorization forms.
• Verifies insurance coverage and identifies plan codes to ensure accurate billing and prompt payment.
• Reviews and explains ABNs and other legal/financial documents to patients and families as required.
• Counsels self-pay patients on procedure costs, payment options, and available resources.
• Secures and logs patient valuables upon admission and applies identification armbands.
• Reads physician orders to determine registration processes and ensures accurate order entry for ancillary departments.
• Notifies departments or physicians of patient arrivals and follows up on delays.
• Assists with bed assignments for inpatients and coordinates with nursing supervisors.
• Operates a multi-line telephone system and relays messages promptly.
• Supports emergency codes and facility emergency plans as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
