Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a Registration Specialist to handle insurance verification and patient registration across Midland locations. You will collect co-pays, explain costs, set up payment plans, and assist patients without adequate coverage with financial options.

The role requires at least one year of insurance/patient accounts experience, strong communication, and confidentiality in handling patient data. Hospital setting experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of experience working with insurance and patient accounts.
• Typing skills and basic personal computer knowledge to enter patient information.
• Basic math proficiency and customer service skills.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate with individuals and groups clearly.
• Maintains confidentiality with all patient information and data.

Responsibilities

• Collects co-pay amounts, posts payments, prints receipts, and balances cash.
• Explains insurance coverage and treatment costs to patients and informs them of financial obligations at discharge; sets up payment plans.
• Arranges finances for uninsured or underinsured patients and communicates available financial assistance options.
• Accesses insurance eligibility websites to verify benefits and document copays and deductibles.
• Performs inpatient admission duties, including admissions processes and collecting patient MSP information.
