Qualifications

• Must remain composed under bed shortages and high pressure.
• Experience using office machines.
• Typing 45 words per minute or more.
• Good telephone skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify insurances requiring authorization and obtain prior to admission.
• Use fax, telephone and online sources to gather needed information.
• Record information for staff use in Excel spreadsheets.
• Coordinate admission with surgery schedule and pre-certification.
• Assign beds and coordinate unit placement following guidelines.
• Document room assignments and manage patient transfers.
• Notify cashier/financial counseling for self-pay arrangements.
