Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Emergency Department standby rotation weekends (Fridays 7pm to Mondays 7am) may occur 2–6 times per year.
• Previous customer service experience required.
• Medical Terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding strongly preferred.
• Basic typing at 45 WPM, basic ten key, and computer skills in Windows.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, payer regulations, and patient rights.
• Knowledge of revenue cycle and impact of registration on patient satisfaction.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, time management and detail orientation.
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to change.
• Ability to maintain composure under deadlines and high volume.
• Greets/Registers patients accurately; verifies eligibility; collects payments; inputs orders.

Responsibilities

• Greets and registers patients accurately and efficiently.
• Verifies insurance eligibility using online systems.
• Provides and completes required patient forms.
• Collects and enters payments and balances procedures.
• Analyzes, interprets and enters physician orders.
• Scans and indexes forms.
• Schedules and communicates appointment information for multiple facilities.
• Verifies insurance for scheduled/urgent patients and obtains authorization per payer criteria.
• Completes assigned work queues and identifies financial counseling needs.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and follows workflows.
