Job summary

Optum is seeking a Patient Access Representative to welcome patients, collect demographics and insurance data, and ensure accurate billing. You will verify benefits, obtain authorizations, and assist with scheduling and referrals, delivering an exceptional first hospital experience.

Training lasts 4–6 weeks with schedule-based onboarding. Roles involve 8-hour shifts onsite at Oneonta, NY and Sidney, NY, with opportunities to develop patient-facing and administrative skills within a large health

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of customer service experience.
• Ability to work onsite at Oneonta and Sidney locations.
• Ability to work 8-hour shifts Monday–Friday with rotating weekends.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients and collects demographics and insurance information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits in real time.
• Obtains pre-certifications and authorizations as required.
• Verifies coverage, creates price estimates, and reverifications as needed.
• Collects patient co-pays and discusses financial obligations.
• Identifies outstanding balances and attempts collection.
• Schedules appointments and coordinates with provider offices.
• Responds to patient inquiries with compassion and professionalism.
• Generates and analyzes patient data reports and resolves inconsistencies.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of registration requirements across units.
