Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Patient Access Representative to welcome patients and collect demographics and insurance data at our Oneonta and Sidney locations. You will verify coverage and help ensure accurate billing information, contributing to a smooth patient experience.

You will enter data in real-time, support referrals and pre-authorizations, collect co-pays, and respond compassionately to patient questions while maintaining professionalism throughout the process.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience.
• Ability to work onsite at 1 Norton Ave, Oneonta, NY 13820 and 43 Pearl St W, Sidney, NY.
• Ability to work 8-hour shifts Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 5 PM, with rotating weekends.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Register patients by collecting demographics and verifying insurance.
• Enter/update patient data in computer systems in real time.
• Coordinate referrals, pre-certifications, and pre-authorizations.
• Verify coverage and create price estimates.
• Collect co-pays and discuss financial obligations with patients.
• Identify outstanding balances and follow up as needed.
• Coordinate scheduling prior to hospital discharge.
• Respond to patient inquiries with compassion and accuracy.
