Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University is seeking a Patient Access Services (PAS) Specialist for the Avel Gordly Center for Healing in downtown Portland. This fully in-person role runs Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.

to 4:30 p.m., supporting scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and front desk activities to ensure timely access to care. You will coordinate new patient intake, manage referrals, and facilitate communication with patients and referring providers.

Qualifications

• Six months of work experience in a medical office setting, including high volume direct patient contact OR one year of work experience in a high-volume direct public contact position.
• Complete successfully the required initial training and core competency assessment before or during the trial service period. Complete all required update modules. Maintain core competencies and demonstrate continuous application of these skills throughout the period of employment.
• Successful completion of the OHSU Language Services Exam.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary point of contact for patients, families, and referring providers, in person and by phone, at the Avel Gordly Center for Healing.
• Schedule, register, verify insurance, and provide front desk services to support patient access and clinic operations.
• Triage and document patient phone calls in Epic, routing requests to providers or care teams; support IPP PAS team as needed.
