Qualifications

• High school diploma; associate degree preferred.
• 1–3 years hospital/clinic or health care financial service experience.
• Knowledge of insurance programs, billing processes (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.).
• Basic understanding of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS and medical terminology; MS Office basics.
• Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; data entry and organization.
• Self-starter in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient identification, demographic information, and insurance coverage.
• Accepts point of service payments.
• Enters patient information accurately into hospital information systems.
• Refers patients with questions regarding financial liability to appropriate resources.
• Accepts medical authorization or referral forms, if appropriate.
• Processes key documents to obtain insurance information.
• Provides payment estimates for out-of-pocket costs.
• Educates patients/families on registration kiosks or online systems.
• Identifies routine issues and escalates to Lead Patient Access Concierge.
