Job summary

North Country Healthcare is seeking a Patient Access Representative to serve as the department's primary receptionist, register patients, verify demographics and insurance, collect co-pays, and obtain signatures.

You will use AccuReg and the EMR system to enter data, review orders, and coordinate with financial counselors on payment issues, EMTALA-compliant payments, and cash drawer reconciliation. The role emphasizes exemplary customer service and adherence to facility standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.
• One year of hospital or health care registration experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary receptionist for the department.
• Maintain excellent customer service for patients, families, and staff.
• Check patients in and out and print visit summaries.
• Enter data into EMR, verify and update demographic and insurance information.
• Verify insurance with AccuReg and coordinate with other departments.
• Collect payments and co-pays in compliance with EMTALA.
• Reconcile cash drawer and handle referrals.
• Handle department phones, paging, and alarms as needed.
• Adhere to facility values and standards.
