Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting, preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience, strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors, required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology
• Excellent customer service
• Working knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel and Outlook), strongly preferred.
• Position requires fluency in English; written and oral communication.
• Fluency in both English & Spanish is a requirement in the El Paso Market.
• Pennsylvania Candidates: Act 33 (Child Abuse History Clearance) & Act 73 (FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Clearance) completed within the last 5 years, or must be obtained prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulations in admissions and medical records handling.
• Provide exemplary customer service by understanding customer needs and building quality relationships.
• Verify patient identity and triage as needed upon arrival to the hospital.
• Answer calls professionally and relay messages to appropriate medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter complete demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits for all plans and ensure correct payor and plan entry.
• Obtain necessary insurance authorizations.
• Assist with collections at time of service in a customer-focused manner.
• Scan and file registration and clinical documents into the system.
